The 2025 Basketball Hall of Fame class is packed with legendary names, headlined by Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, the 2008 “Redeem Team”, and WNBA icons Sue Bird, Maya Moore, and Sylvia Fowles. The class was officially announced in San Antonio during the NCAA Men’s Final Four, and the induction ceremony is set for September in Springfield.
Both Carmelo Anthony and Dwight Howard were inducted individually and as part of the Redeem Team, which captured gold at the 2008 Olympics. Joining them in that team honor are basketball legends like Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Chris Paul, and Dwyane Wade.
Anthony, a 10-time All-Star, scoring champion, and three-time Olympic gold medalist, called this honor the “greatest accomplishment” of his career. Meanwhile, Howard, an eight-time All-Star and three-time Defensive Player of the Year, expressed deep gratitude, calling the Hall of Fame “basketball heaven.”
On the women’s side, Sue Bird and Maya Moore, both four-time WNBA champions and two-time NCAA champs, enter as first-ballot Hall of Famers. Sylvia Fowles, a key figure in the Minnesota Lynx dynasty, also joins the elite group.
Other inductees include:
- Billy Donovan, two-time NCAA champion coach with Florida
- Danny Crawford, veteran NBA referee who officiated 23 straight Finals
- Micky Arison, longtime Miami Heat owner who oversaw three NBA titles
This year’s class celebrates some of the most influential players and contributors in basketball history, both in the NBA and WNBA, as well as in international and college competition.
